What is remarkable in Sautel’s art are the eyes of the characters he creates.
Sautel Cago, Hong Kong
A WALL IN KWUN TONG.
Passersby taking pictures of the wall.
Sautel came to Hong Kong to work on a 100-metre wall in an abandoned bus depot in Kwun Tong. This commission was his longest wall to date. It was a happy occasion, so I decided to shoot this video to document it. A day after the wall was finished however, the wall was wrecked by vandalism. A devastating moment for any artist especially after all the materials used, long days and nights … It was a sad ending. Complete joy gave way to heartbreak and disappointment. Above is a link to the video of the wall in its entirety. Enjoy.
Street Artist at Clockenflap
I first met Sautel at Clockenflap. As we were leaving the festival, I came across a pitch black area where car headlights were shining onto a wall. Curious as to what was happening, I peeked behind the wall and glimpsed a street artist at work.
