This new work is an audio/visual installation featuring a portrait of a female’s face that embodies the excitement of meeting someone new and the pains of a relationship that changes over time. This true story is told thru real voicemails; interpreted thru photographs.
Filmmaker Monique Lai says, “I saw stories in front of me, and without looking thru the viewfinder, I had to trust that I got it.”
I am packed; standing nearby the kitchen looking around my empty loft. The movers have just left, and all my belongings are now heading into storage. My bright orange suitcase stands excitedly waiting by the door. This is it. The moment of the unknown. How, where, and who I meet will now all be through my lens. A goodbye to Brooklyn, and a hello to Hong Kong.
